The Directive (EU) 2023/970 on pay transparency represents a decisive step toward implementing the principle of equal pay for equal work between women and men, a principle that remains difficult to guarantee in practice today. The European Union is introducing clear obligations concerning transparency, access to information, and employer accountability, thus fostering a fairer and more competitive environment. Unioncamere positively welcomes these objectives but highlights the need for a proportionate implementation, especially for SMEs and micro-enterprises. Adequate technical support and a gradual approach are essential to facilitate an effective and sustainable transition.
