Position paper: Women Entrepreneurship

Women entrepreneurship remains underrepresented in Europe despite its strategic potential: women constitute 52% of the population but account for only one-third of self-employed individuals and start-up founders. The EU is strengthening programmes and financial instruments, such as the InvestEU Gender Finance Lab, along with training, mentoring, and support services. A key role is played by European networks—including EWN, WEgate, WES, and the Women Entrepreneurship Ambassadors—which foster the exchange of skills, visibility, and access to funding. This ecosystem contributes to closing the gap and reinforcing the competitiveness of women-led businesses.
